How to Organize Your GrownBy Shop

Your GrownBy shop includes several tools to help you control what customers see and how products are displayed. This article explains how you can organize products for a clear shopping experience.

The All Page (Default Shop View)

The All page shows every product that is available for purchase in your shop.

  • Products on the All page are listed in alphabetical order by product name.

  • Featured products appear at the top of the All page, alphabetized, followed by the rest of your products in alphabetical order.

If you want a specific product to appear higher in the list, consider adjusting its name (for example, adding a prefix like “CSA –” or “Eggs –”).

Categories (Left-Hand Navigation)

Categories appear on the left side of your shop and help customers filter products.

  • Categories are created and managed from Farmer Dashboard → Products → Categories or via the Product editing screen.

  • When a customer clicks a category, they will see only the products assigned to that category.

  • A product can belong to multiple online categories (for example, a product could be in both “Vegetables” and “Winter Storage”) but only one reporting category.

CSA Groups (Left-Hand Navigation)

CSA Groups also appear in the left-hand navigation, below categories, under the headline, "Shares".

  • CSA groups can be used for CSA shares and subscription-based offerings but can also be used to sort any product in your shop

  • When a customer clicks a CSA group, they will see only the products available in that group.

Private CSA Groups

CSA groups can be set to Private. Private CSA groups:

  • Are not visible in your public shop navigation.

  • Can only be accessed using a special link that you share with customers.

Products Restricted to CSA Groups

You can set products to Only available in CSA groups.

  • These products will still appear in your public shop, but customers must click through to the CSA group page to purchase them.

  • If a product is Only available in CSA groups AND the CSA group is Private, the product will not appear in your public shop at all.

This is useful for member-only add-ons or private share options. Some custom share farms use this feature as well.

You can mark products as Featured from the Products screen of your dashboard.

  • Go to Farmer Dashboard → Products → Click on the "..." Actions menu → Feature.

  • Featured products appear first in your shop.

  • Featured products are listed in alphabetical order among themselves.

Featured products are a helpful way to highlight CSA shares, memberships, or seasonal offerings.

Out-of-Stock Products

Products that are out of stock still appear in your shop, but customers cannot add them to their cart.

  • The plus (+) button appears greyed out for out-of-stock products.

  • In-stock products show a green plus (+) button.

This allows customers to see what you typically offer, even when an item is temporarily unavailable.

Hiding Products from Your Shop

If you want a product not to appear in your shop at all, you must hide the product.

To hide a product:

  1. Go to Farmer Dashboard → Products.

  2. Click the "..." in the actions menu and click Hide

You can also hide Products or perform other tasks in bulk via Bulk Editing. Hidden products do not appear in the public shop or on CSA pages.

Search in Your Shop

Customers can search for products using the search bar in your shop.

  • Search results are text-based on product names and product descriptions.

  • Search results are not limited to the category of CSA Group being displayed on-screen. The search is across all available Products.

Warning

Current Limitations

At this time, products cannot be manually reordered in the shop.

  • Alphabetical naming and featured products are the primary ways to control the order in which products appear.

Idea
FAQ: Why isn’t my product showing up in my shop?

If a product is missing from your public shop, check the following:

  • The product's assigned schedules do not have dates available in the future.

  • The product is hidden: Go to Farmer Dashboard → Products and make sure it is not set to Hidden.

  • The product is only available in a private CSA group: If Only available in CSA groups is enabled and the CSA group is Private, the product will not appear in your public shop.
