Buying from a local farm on GrownBy is deliberately simple. Here's the whole flow.
Find a farm
From the Marketplace home page, you can search for a farm by name or scroll down to the Farms selling near ____ section and enter your location to see farms near you. Each farm card shows its name, a summary, and whether it offers delivery, pickup, or both.
You can also click Explore on a map to browse farms visually. The map includes many filters such as Farms selling now, Show pickup locations, Farms that accept SNAP benefits to help you find what you're looking for.
Add items to your cart
Click a farm to open its storefront. Products are listed with their unit and price. Click Add to put an item in your cart. Your cart lives at the top right of the page.
Your cart can hold items from multiple farms at once, but you check out one farm at a time. If you want items from two separate farms, you'll go through the checkout process twice.
Checkout
When you're ready, open your cart and click Checkout.
- Confirm your delivery address or pickup location
- Review the order total. You're paying the farm price plus any delivery fee the farm sets. Some farms require shoppers to cover a service fee; you'll see it listed above your total if applicable. You can also add an optional tip at checkout.
- Enter payment details (we use Stripe; your card isn't stored with GrownBy)
- Place the order
After the order
You'll see the order under Your Orders in your account. The farm gets notified immediately and will confirm the fulfillment details. If something's wrong, contact support and we'll help mediate.
