Pack Order lets you control the sequence your products show up in when you're packing orders. It's most useful for farms that pack boxes — especially customizable CSAs and farms doing pre-boxed à la carte ordering — where a consistent packing sequence keeps the line moving.
How Pack Order works
Pack Order is a number you assign to a product. That number determines where the product falls on your labels, packing sheets, and the pick list in fulfillments.
Think of the numbers as the path your products take from the bottom of the box up:
- Lower numbers come first. These are your heavy, bulky items — the ones at the front of the packing line and the bottom of the box.
- Higher numbers come last. These are your lightest, most fragile items — the end of the packing line and the top of the box.
- Products with no Pack Order fall to the bottom, listed alphabetically after everything that does have a number.
You can use as many different Pack Order numbers as you like — there's no limit.
Only standard products have a Pack Order.
How to set Pack Order
You set Pack Order on the product detail page, in the Buying Options & Prices section. Each buying option has its own Pack Order column — enter a number there and click Submit.
To review all of your Pack Order numbers at once, run the product export — every Pack Order is included, which makes it easy to spot gaps or duplicates and plan your packing line across your whole shop.
